Keyboard

The Keyboard is a polyphonic touch piano that covers all 128 MIDI notes (from 0 to 127). A bar along the top lets you scroll through the whole range. It works in MIDI mode only.

What it's for

  • Playing melodies and chords on a synth or virtual instrument.
  • Quickly auditioning sounds while you build your setup.

Adding a keyboard

  1. Open the Editor.
  2. In the palette, choose Keyboard in the MIDI section.
  3. Double-tap the keyboard to open the inspector.
  4. Choose the channel, velocity and key width, then tap Save.

Playing it in Perform

  1. Tap the keys. With several fingers, several notes sound at once.
  2. Slide a finger from one key to another for a glissando: the previous note is released and the new one plays.
  3. Drag the top bar to move to another note range.

If the keys feel too small, raise Key Width in the inspector. Wider keys mean fewer fit on screen, and you use the top bar to reach the rest.

Limits

  • Velocity is fixed: it doesn't change with how hard or where you touch. If you need touch dynamics, use Pads with Vertical Velocity.
  • It has no OSC or Macro mode, and it can't be the target of macros or a State.
  • It doesn't take the page color and has no custom color option.
  • For bends, pair it with a Pitch Bend. For arpeggios, see the Arpeggiator.
