The most common questions, in a few steps.
Start with the sample scene
The Quick Start scene comes with 7 pages ready to play. If you deleted it, bring it back in Settings > Backup > Quick Start > Restore Scene.
Choose where MIDI goes
In Settings > MIDI Outputs > Destination, select one or more devices ([USB], [BLE] or [NET]). If yours isn’t listed, tap Scan Outputs.
Add a control
In Perform, tap the grid button, then +, and pick a control. Double-tap it to open its inspector.
Change the tempo
Tap the tempo pill in Perform. Drag the dial, tap the number to type it, or use Tap along with the music.
Follow your DAW’s clock
On the Tempo screen, choose External MIDI. If several devices send clock, leave a single input in Settings > MIDI Inputs.
Send OSC
In Settings > OSC Output > Manage OSC Outputs, tap Add and enter the IP, port and paths. Then pick that output in each OSC control’s inspector.
Save a page as a preset
In Perform, tap the pencil, go to Presets, type a name and tap Save. It goes to the User tab.
Back up all your work
In Settings > Backup, use Export Scenes and Export Settings. User presets are exported one by one.

Frequently asked questions
Which devices does RigAstra run on?
iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets. It works in portrait and landscape, with a control grid sized for each format.
Read more →Does RigAstra make sound?
No. RigAstra is a controller: it sends MIDI and OSC to your synths, your DAW or visual software, and they are what sound or react.
Read more →I touch a control and nothing sounds
In Settings > MIDI Outputs > Destination, check that the right device is selected and, if it isn’t listed, tap Scan Outputs. Then make sure the control is in MIDI mode and its channel matches your instrument’s.
Read more →Can I send MIDI to several devices at once?
Yes. In Settings > MIDI Outputs > Destination you can select several destinations or All Outputs. Notes and CCs go to all of them; MIDI Clock goes to a single destination, the first connected one, with automatic fallback to the next.
Read more →Does it sync with my DAW?
Yes, over MIDI Clock: RigAstra can send clock from its internal clock or follow your DAW with External MIDI. It doesn’t support Ableton Link.
Read more →My device doesn’t receive MIDI Clock
Clock goes to a single destination: the first one you selected that’s connected. Network destinations only get Start and Stop, without pulses. With External MIDI on, RigAstra doesn’t send clock out.
Read more →Can it receive OSC?
No. RigAstra only sends OSC. You type in each output’s IP and port. On iPhone and iPad, allow local network access when the system asks.
Read more →Does it keep running in the background?
No. When it goes to the background or a call comes in, RigAstra stops the engines and turns off every note so nothing is left hanging. When you come back, start the engines again by hand.
Read more →How do I move my scenes to another device?
Use Settings > Export Scenes and Export Settings, then import the files on the other device. Everything is compatible between iPhone and iPad; between iPhone or iPad and Android, not every file transfers yet.
Read more →I imported scenes and lost mine
Import Scenes replaces every scene on the device without asking for confirmation. Always export your scenes before importing. To bring in a single scene, use Import in the scene actions.
Read more →What data does RigAstra collect?
Your scenes, presets and settings are stored on your device. The details are in the privacy policy.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by the store you bought from. For the App Store, request it at reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, follow the Google Play refund help. If you’d like to tell me what didn’t work, it really helps.
