Kirk Franklin is one of the most influential figures in gospel music — a Grammy-winning artist, choir director, and producer who has been bridging the gap between gospel and mainstream music for over three decades. With Love Theory, he delivered a song that's pure joy: a bouncy groove driven by electronic drums, punchy bass, and that signature Kirk Franklin energy that makes you want to clap and sing.
Recreating this instrumental was both a production and musical challenge. The arrangement is deceptively complex — layered electronic and acoustic drums, synth bass alongside electric piano, and brass stabs that have to hit with exactly the right timing and dynamics. I played everything using my Komplete Kontrol S88 keyboard, with sounds from Native Instruments and Sonic Academy libraries. Every note was performed and mixed by hand, take by take.
