Blade Runner End Titles – Synth Recording Session (Played by Hand)
About this video
This video captures a moment from my recording session for the Blade Runner End Titles cover — the iconic closing piece composed by Vangelis (Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou) for Ridley Scott's 1982 science fiction masterpiece. The soundtrack won the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music and remains one of the most influential electronic scores ever created.
A key detail of this production: although the original Blade Runner sound is often associated with arpeggiators, I played every synth line by hand — no automatic arpeggiator. You can see me in the video performing the synth parts manually on my keyboard. I chose this approach deliberately to inject a more organic, human feel into the performance, where the natural timing variations and touch dynamics give the lines a character that automated sequencing can't replicate.
I started recording this project on June 13, 2017, but left it aside for some months while focusing on client work. I returned on October 30, 2018 to finish editing and record additional synth elements. The full cover was built entirely with Arturia virtual instruments — 10 different synths including SEM V, JUP-8V, Prophet V, MINI V, MATRIX-12 V, Farfisa V, ARP 2600 V3, SOLINA V, and ANALOG LAB.
