Black Catcher – Drums Recording with Joe Chiccarelli Pack (EastWest)

This video shows the drum track I built for my instrumental remake of "Black Catcher" — the Opening 10 theme of the anime Black Clover, originally performed by Vickeblanka. Created for Shiro Neko for her vocal cover.

I used the Joe Chiccarelli Drums pack from EastWest ComposerCloud — one of my go-to choices when I need acoustic drums with a powerful, professional sound. Joe Chiccarelli is a Grammy-winning producer and engineer who has worked with artists like U2, The White Stripes, and Morrissey, and this drum library captures that caliber of quality.

Since I was working away from my studio with only a laptop and a small keyboard, I didn't have my usual drum pad available. So I programmed the entire drum part in the grid note editor — kick, snare, hi-hats, toms, and crashes. The drum part in this song is far from simple, making this approach a unique challenge that required careful attention to velocity, timing, and groove.
