Do It Again
"Do It Again" by Kirk Franklin is one of those Gospel tracks that feels smooth and effortless on the surface, yet its strength is hidden in the precision of the groove, the layering, and the balance between organic and electronic elements. Recreating it faithfully meant paying close attention to every subtle detail — from the weight of the low end to the warmth and space of the keys.
The arrangement features hybrid drums built from acoustic and electronic layers, a powerful three-part low end with 808 sub, synth bass, and electric bass, plus a rich keyboard foundation made of Rhodes, acoustic piano, and Gospel organ. For this remake, I used tools such as EastWest Pro Drummer 2, Steven Slate Drums 5.5, Prime Bass, ANA 2, Keyscape, Noire, DB-33, and Electric Mint — all carefully played and programmed to preserve the pocket, feel, and musical character that define Kirk Franklin’s sound.
